2022 is off to flying start for writers as some top literary contests are now open for applications. These contests are highly rewarding and will definetly give you more experience in the world of writing. If you are as good as you think you are then you should participate in this contests.


1. James Ene Henshaw Playwriting Competition 2022

The competition is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 years resident in Nigeria, for the best original play for the stage. 5 candidates will be selected following the workshops to join the competition, and each successful candidate will be assigned a mentor to work with to produce a full-length play. Each candidate will receive N100, 000. The best overall play will be awarded a further N150,000.

2. Pengician Poetry Chapbook Prize, 2022 Edition

Pengician Poetry Chapbook Prize is an annual competition designed to give aspiring poets the opportunity to self publishing their first chapbook at no cost. The winner and runner-up will receive $120 worth of digital publishing deal each.

4. Drue Heinz Literature Prize 2022

The Drue Heinz Literature Prize recognizes and supports writers of short fiction and makes their work available to readers around the world. The winners of the contests will receive a cash prize of $15,000, publication by the University of Pittsburgh Press, and support in the nation-wide promotion of their book.
