“If you finish your Diploma or Degree programme, you should put food on your table by putting your skills into practice,” Iliya said.

He said that arrangements had been concluded to train 2,000 youths and women across the 21 local government areas on nine different trades as soon as Covid-19 is over.

“Iliya said that funds had been released for the exercise. And at the end of the training, they will be presented with certificates to enable them access loans from microfinance banks for them to become self–reliant and be employers of labour,” he said.

Iliya said the trades are: food processing and preservation, solar installation, website and graphics design, and photography.

Others are makeup, soap making, fish farming, barbing and poultry farming, all for a period of two weeks.

“The money has been released, we are just waiting for the pandemic to slow down for us to kick off the exercise for the benefit of our people.

“I want to believe if the schools are to be opened, we can equally be allowed to do the training”, he said.

Iliya said that the next training would be for people living with disabilities.
He also advised the 1,000 beneficiaries of the online women empowerment programmes to maximise the opportunity to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
