In the early hours of today Tuesday the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Alhaji Abdullahi Sule in a press briefing at the government house in Lafia the state capital, made the announcement of the first recorded positive case of the novel coronavirus.

He said five tests was carried out, four was negative and one came out positive.
The Governor further stressed that the infected person is a young lady (Name not verified) who came into the state last week from Kano state to Kokono Local government area of the state, despite the movement restriction order by both states. “We already evacuated the lady from Kokona to Lafia where we have better facilities to take care of her”. He added.
The Nasarawa state director of public health, Dr Ibrahim Adamu, confirmed that the infected lady who was initially one of the persons in the state isolation center is now being quarantined at Dalhatu Araf Specialist hospital in Lafia the state capital where she’s receiving treatment.
It was also gathered that family and traced possible contacts of the lady are now being isolated and samples sent to the Nigeria Center for Decease Control (NCDC) headquarters at Abuja for tests, to ensure none of the family members is infected.
“For the first time, we have a lady that tested in Kokona and she is positive.
“The lady actually travelled from Kano to come to Kokona and she was tested. After the test, it came out that she is positive. So it is sad for us and we have identified her as the first case of the positive case from the lady that travelled from Kano to Kokona,” the governor said.
It would interest you to know that Nasarawa state before now has been one of the four states in Nigeria yet to record any positive case of the COVID19 pandemic.
