COVID-19: Umahi changes resumption of schools in Ebonyi to January 18

 

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi at the weekend, delayed school resumption ahead scheduled for Monday 4th January 2021, to 18th of the same month.

He revealed that the postponement was as an outcome of the need to take protection against the inevitable second wave of Covid-19 and in compliance with the directives of the Presidential Task Force on Covid19.

He said: “I have been directed by the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr. David Umahi to inform all public, private and mission Nursery, Primary, Secondary schools, Ebonyi State Colleges, University and the general public that due to the need to take precautions against the impending second wave of Covid19 and in compliance to the directives of the Presidential Task Force on Covid19:

“That all public, private and mission Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools in Ebonyi State shall resume on Monday 18th January 2021 instead of 4th January as earlier scheduled.”

tudents of various tertiary institutions in the State to resume lecture by Monday 4th January 2021.

“That in order to ensure the return of students to full academic activities, especially as Academic Staff Union of Universities- ASUU had called off its 9 months industrial strike on the 24th December 2020, all Ebonyi State Colleges and University shall resume on Monday 4th January 2021 on condition of strict observation of NCDC Protocols on Covid-19 by all staff and students,” he stated
