The U.S. Department of State and IREX is pleased to announce the Mandela Washington Fellowship Program 2021/2022 for academic, professional and regional experts to read and score the 2022 applications.
The Fellowship is the flagship program of the United States Governmentâs Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). The fellowship has over the years brought several young leaders from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa to the United States for academic and leadership training.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Fellowship, interested candidates are to meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be academics and/or professionals with expertise in one or more of the Fellowshipâs thematic areas (business, civic engagement, or public management).
- Must possess experience in Africa, or experience working on Sub-Saharan African issues.
- Applicants who are U.S. Government employees and Fellowship Alumni are eligible to apply.
- Must demonstrate excellent academic and leadership abilities.
