FWGE Day 16: Desires by Iliya Kambai Dennis

You were purple the day you stepped
Out of your white smile.
I remembered staring at you,
Lost in thoughts and illusions.

I should have worn you on my skin;
Then, every night I will sit under
A starless sky and doodle the words
I should have painted on your heart.

To write your name only where
My heart can read in a language
Our souls could understand.

I don’t know this feeling I feel.
They say love is blind, but what of lust?
I don’t know if I’m blind because
I see only you in a multitude.

I want to take you home,
To dance with you on my bed,
To enjoy the rhythm of your jigida,
And drink you when I thirst.
