I stayed awake in awe
in the stillness of the night.
Everywhere was calm like the
agents of darkness and human souls were
fighting for supremacy in the silence of the night.
I wanted you badly by my side
as the picture of your image
flashed through my mind
stimulating tears of love for a distant partner
As I gazed out of the window,
the moon shined brighter,
the stars twinkled in the sky
in the image of my tears.
Each day, I look forward
to hear your knock at the door;
and imagined me in your arms
curdling my stretched hairs with your soothing palms.
And future what altitude our emotions would ascend,
when our lips clasped together like the
island’s of Trinidad and Tobago
two islands joined together.
Thus allowing our tongues to search,
and search for connecting signals,
in the oceanic waves of the
Island of the moment.
My consolation is that you were there,
to heed the noble call,
the noble call,
the call for national service
And there will be no going back.
