FWGE Day 3: When Age Comes by Fidelis Okafor

When age comes,

we would sit by a fountain, waving our shadow to the sunset and be children again.

His laughter would vibrate his potbelly,

She would smile from her dignified wrinkles and my bald head will glow in wisdom.

When age comes,

Light will not leave our eyes,
for we have built day’s joy with our sleepless nights.

We would make merry of every old memories, name our silliness and toast to it.

When age comes,

Certificates might become children or even grand kids,

and marriage the only degree we value,

education might just be the eloquence of our speech
or the charisma that we enrope ourselves in.

When age comes,

We might not be of age to give it a good laughter,

Squint our eyes to it and drink to life.
