Lagos Government orders JSS3 students to resume

Lagos state Government has directed the JSS3 students who are registered for National Examination Council (NECO) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to resume on Monday, August 10, to prepare for the examination scheduled on August 24.

This, according to the government, is in alliance to the previous announcement directing SS3 and Technical Studies (TEC3) students in the state to commence resumption on Monday, August 3, 2020 to help and aid them revise and sit for their approaching West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and NABTEB.

Furthermore, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, who made the announcement in her office at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, said the JSS3 students who are waiting to write BECE organized by the Lagos State Examinations Board are cut off from the resumption process.

She said: “Only those students who are registered for NECO BECE which is scheduled to commence on the 24th of August, 2020 are permitted to resume, other JSS3 students waiting to write BECE organized by the Lagos State Examinations Board would soon be informed of the scheduled dates of their examination.”

The Commissioner indicated that administrators of both public and private schools are to anticipate and also ensure proper measures in cooperation with the COVID-19 obligations for schools re-opening in their respective schools as the State Government’s officials will be in position to watch and guide events in all schools across the State.

While encouraging students to be fully set and prepared for the forthcoming examinations and put more effort to studying their books, the Commissioner made us understand that government has organized proper means to make learning favorable and the management of the examination profitable and rewarding.

She, nevertheless, persuades students and members of staff to be in conformity and strictly agree to proper hygienic rules and regulations and make proper provisions for sanitizers, wash hand basin, thermometers and other crucial and important items in public and private schools across the State, emphasizing that the washing of hands, wearing of face masks and the obedience to the rules of social distancing must be conformed to.
