Ramadan Poem | Day 22: Before The Appearance of Dawn by Onafowokan Taofeek Busayo

BEFORE THE APPEARANCE OF DAWN
Here, and then, he can still
Hear the lunar screams
Cleansing out of the soul
The ashes and aches
That birth man’s desires.
There, and what, he
Moves from a city littered
With dusts that stain the souls
And leave the body in a vacuum
Of sins.
Over there he sees and wishes
He becomes part of the stars
That shine at every night
And unfold the blessings
Of this month.
The scaredness of the nights
Has started growing wings
Of angels–of blessings, peace
Arriving to the earth
Before the appearance of dawn.
