They did it while maintaining an unblemished record! Despite the rising difficulty of each round, the duo defeated over a hundred debaters from around the world.

“We saw it more as a blessing and not a burden, and having that mindset allowed us to do so well,” Stanton told WSBTV.

Stanton and Jackson, who are 16 and 17, are North Atlanta High School and Holy Innocents Episcopal School students. They’re both part of the Harvard Diversity Project, which prepares young debaters for worldwide competition.

The duo’s recent victory was their team’s fourth in a row in the yearly competition, and they now have an undefeated 10-0 record.

The two teenage debaters dedicate their victory to each other, as well as the Harvard Diversity Project and its founder, debate coach Brandon P. Fleming, an award-winning debate coach.

Furthermore, they stated that debate has helped them gain confidence and modify their perspective on life.

“I question everything, and doing that has allowed me to create unique and diverse perspectives about the world,” Jackson said.
