Ramadan Poem | Day 26: We Seek Mercy by Onafowokan Taofeek Busayo

WE SEEK YOUR MERCY

It appeared one day how to speak in griefs
Stuffed of threats, oppressions and victimization
He was a boy learning how to kiss
The jug of wars that his families
Drank in one hot weather
Between wombs and bombs
Between peace and pieces
Between freedom and free-doom
Like how to swallow a persistence of loss
That bench and so, belch
the lands in the hands of the hypocrites.
Oh Allah,
Protect us
For we are like a shadow looking for a body
We are like a vacuum in need of a matter
We are like a deaf waiting for a voice.
