The Noise, Poem by Egwuatu Ogechukwu Peace

The Noise

Like thunder roaring and turbulent waves crashing against each other
So is the noise around me
A million voices raised above normal
Loud stereos booming
noise or music, I am unable to tell
How can you hear yourself amidst all this noise?
I can’t hear the voices in my mind
I can’t think
All I hear is the pounding of my head
A staccato beat that’s frayed by interference
And my mind clamouring for quiet,
Teeters dangerously on the edge of insanity
