Speaking with The Cable on Sunday, June 28, Lagos commissioner of education, Folasade Adefisayo, said the state will distribute the radio sets to students in underserved communities.
The commissioner also disclosed that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos government, through state education ministry, will also partner with telecommunications companies.
According to her, the partnership will facilitate a way of getting free or subsidised data for private schools as academic activities continue from homes. She said;
“I started crowdfunding efforts with our partners to buy radios and we will start distribution of 10,000 radios tomorrow so that the children can join radio lessons,”
“So far, the children have been responding to their teachers on Whatsapp. As for the other devices, the devices from our partners, it has been programmed so that it is only the curriculum that is on them.”
