8 Grants & Funding Programs to Apply for in May 2023

The programs below are grant programs where eligible applicants will stand the chance to receive grants to fund projects that fit the program’s aim. Aside from the benefit of funding, successful applicants also get the benefit of training and mentorship from top individuals and sponsors of the said program. 1. Shell 2023 ASSA North LiveWIRE PLUS Program

The ASSA North LiveWIRE PLUS Programme 2023 is an exciting opportunity for young Nigerian entrepreneurs seeking to realize their potential and develop their businesses. Supported by the SPDC JV, LiveWIRE Nigeria is a youth enterprise development initiative aimed at improving opportunities for young people aged 18-35 to create and grow their own businesses, contributing to a thriving economy and more fulfilled communities.

2. 2023 Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund JUMPSTARTER Global Pitch Competition for Entrepreneurs Worldwide

UMPSTARTER is a not-for-profit initiative curated by Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund that provides a platform for all entrepreneurs and young people to jump start their dreams in Hong Kong. It is also a first-of-its-kind startup event focused exclusively on showcasing quality startups and providing high-impact networking opportunities. 3. TechCrunch 2023 Startup Battlefield 200 For African Startups

SB 200 is the startup world’s preeminent competition, and it has a global reach. The inaugural cohort, which debuted last year at Disrupt 2022, included three impressive early-stage startups from two African nations.

4. Accelerate Africa 2023 Program For African Entrepreneurs

Today, Prosper Africa and Future Africa announced the launch of the Accelerate Africa program. The program provides intensive guidance, mentorship, and resources for early stage African Founders. In partnership with Prosper Africa, Future Africa will support dynamic African entrepreneurs as they embark on a 7-week pre-accelerator program that will prepare them for global scale through accelerator programs such as Y-Combinator, 500 Startups, and Techstars.

5. PEP/GEAI Africa Fellows in Education Program 2023 ($35,000 grant)

The Global Education Analytics Institute (GEAI), in collaboration with PEP, invites young African researchers who are motivated to work on educational improvement and could benefit from additional support to submit an expression of interest in the Africa Fellows in Education Program.

6. SRHIN Health Equity Champions Program for Nigerian Residents 2023

The SRHIN Health Equity Champions (SHEC) program is a voluntary program where SRHIN recruits, trains, and supports 40 emerging leaders approximately between 18-30 years of age who will be Health Equity Champions for SRHIN across different states in Nigeria.

7. Pulitzer Center 2023 Data Journalism Grants for Journalists

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, a non-profit organization that supports independent global journalism, is seeking applications for innovative data-driven journalism projects that spotlight underreported issues. This opportunity is open to all newsrooms and independent journalists in the United States and abroad.

8. UNESCO Silk Roads Youth Research Grants 2023

The UNESCO Silk Roads Youth Research Grant was first launched in 2021 and is organized within the UNESCO Silk Roads Programme with the support of the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, in the context of UNESCO Social and Human Sciences Programme.
