Tytianna Smith, a Lafayette High School senior in Lafayette, Alabama, was accepted to 49 of the 50 institutions to which she applied, receiving a total of $1.7 million in scholarship offers. Despite the fact that she was not accepted to her first choice, she believes God is directing her to Norfolk University, where she believes she was meant to be.

Since then, Smith has been making plans for her future. She made a list of her objectives last year, including “attending a high school that is currently on the falling school list,”

“wanting to show that just because we attend a failing school we are not failing students,” and “wanting to lift the standard.”

She recently received good news: she had been accepted into every school to which she had applied.

With the exception of Stanford University, which was her top choice at the time, she had no other options. Furthermore, she was torn between predominantly white colleges and universities and historically black colleges and universities.

“I wanted both for different reasons but was unsure what was right for me,” she said.

However, she made the decision to trust in the power of faith and her relationship with God. She said, “I follow God & I don’t care what anyone says.”

“I thought he was leading me to Stanford but I’m confident the final destination was Norfolk and Stanford was just a part of the journey,” she stated.

Tytianna achieved a 4.6 GPA and a 29 ACT score as a student. She assisted the full band in preparing for five games without a band coach as the Co-Drum Major this year.

She is also a co-founder of “Warriors of Women,” an army that God has placed in her heart to assist women overcome the world’s double standards.

She also won a total of $1.7 million in scholarships from the institutions she applied to and various outside grants, in addition to getting admitted to 49 schools.
