1. My Woven Poetry March | Theme: Nightmare

My Woven Poetry is calling on writers and poets to submit their best poems this March for a chance to be featured on their website. Woven Poetry is an anthology of poetry. Each month, we supply a compelling image and invite writers – published or unpublished – to submit a piece in response.

2. James Ene Henshaw Playwriting Competition 2022

We’re looking for plays that capture the pulse and moments of contemporary Nigerian society; writing with a unique voice that speaks to current and future generations. The competition is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 years resident in Nigeria, for the best original play for the stage.

3. The Alpine Fellowship Writing Prize 2022

The competition is organized by the Alpine Fellowship, a charity project with the broad aim of ‘promoting culture and the arts’.

This year’s theme is: Freedom

The competition is open to anyone aged 18 and above. Submissions can be prose, poetry, non-academic essays, but must be standalone and cannot be extracts from a larger piece. All genres permitted.

4. Apply for the13th Casa Africa Essay Award

For the 13th consecutive year, Casa África announces its Essay Prize on African themes with the aim of recognizing, encouraging and disseminating original and unpublished essays that contribute to a better knowledge of the African continent.

The theme chosen for this year’s edition is Migrations.

5. Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize – Author of Tomorrow

The Author of Tomorrow is designed to find the adventure writers of the future. Part of the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, it is an annual competition open to young people across the world who have completed a short piece of adventure writing in English.

The competition is open to young people, aged 21 and under.
