The contest, worth over $7,000 is recognized through the length and breath of the country. The 2020 prize has featured a partnership between Chicago Tribune and Robert R. McCormick Foundation, which is an opportunity for writers to earn from their art.
Deadline: 7th of February, 2020.

Eligibility:
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must be a legal resident in any of the fifty United States and the Columbia.
How to Submit:
- Your short story shouldn’t be longer than 8000 words.
- Only previously unpublished works are accepted.
- Must be written in English Language and must be double-spaced.
- The story must be appropriate for publication “in a commercially distributed general-audience publication.”
Prizes:
- Overall winner receives $3,500.
- Each of five finalists will receive $750.
- The winning piece will be considered for publication in a print or digital edition of the Chicago Tribune.
