Folly is a new independent literary and arts journal from New Zealand, drawn to satirical takes on the social scene, dark humor and starkly honest account of ordinary life. The inaugural issue will be published late 2023 and will feature shortlisted submissions to the Folly Journal Open Short Story Prize. We are particularly seeking content that takes risks, screams with honesty and celebrates life’s extraordinary moments.
Thanks to the support of Heft Communications and other local businesses, a prize pool of $1700 NZD is on offer. The theme is open, but must loosely be in keeping with the Folly vision as outlined on our website.

Submissions close on 1 May 2023. Work must be in English and mustn’t exceed 2000 words.
