Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA) to the Managing Director

Location: Plateau

Job Purpose and Functions

  • The Personal Assistant (PA) shall be responsible to the Managing Director (MD) in the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities to effectively and efficiently provide secretarial, clerical, administration, and office management services in the office of the Managing Director.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Personal Assistant (PA) shall be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

  • Taking dictation (in shorthand), transcription of the same and composing correspondence for the MD;
  • Handling telephone calls for the MD’s Office and dealing with all incoming and outgoing emails and posts to the MD;
  • Administration of meeting arrangements or logistics and related files/papers for such meetings;
  • Taking minutes during Management Meetings & any other meetings chaired by the MD;
  • Attending to MD’s visitors, diary appointments and promptly responding to official queries;
  • Maintaining, arranging and management of MD’s appointments, engagements, and the MD’s itinerary;
  • Making and coordinating the MD’s travel arrangements
  • Indexing the MD’s business correspondence;
  • Controlling stationery and other office materials for the MD’s office;
  • Organizing the MD’s office refreshments, wall charts, and year planners;
  • Maintaining an efficient electronic and manual filing system for the MD’s office;
  • Timely processing, administration, and management of official correspondence and documents;
  • Liaising for internal official interfaces, particularly in Management and with the Board;
  • Orienting and inducting newly recruited office secretaries;
  • Supplying and providing approved reference materials to stakeholders;
  • In liaison with the Company Secretary, arranging and coordinating NNL’s Board Meetings; and
  • Any other duties relevant to the post of PA as may be assigned by the MD.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • The ideal candidates should have a minimum qualification of a Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Secretarial Management or Office Technology & Management or Equivalent Qualification from a reputable and recognized institution such as a Polytechnic.
  • Those with a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in the same discipline(s) will have an added advantage.
  • They must have at least five (5) years relevant post qualification working experience of which at least two (2) years should be in serving Senior Management Office level.
  • Those with proven experience as a PA who has worked with Executives will have an added advantage.

The Person:
Required Key / Core Competencies, Attributes, and Skills:

  • High integrity and be responsible, trustworthy, detail-oriented, flexible, honest, and reliable to work in a MD’s office;
  • Hard-working individual with ability to work under pressure, independently, manage and handle multiple tasks with little supervision as demanded by MD’s office while maintaining a high level of performance with exceptional attention to accuracy and details;
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining office systems;
  • Pleasant, courteous, and extremely neat & clean personality;
  • Excellent IT skills including processing & working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access, etc);
  • Strong oral/verbal & written communication, interpersonal, organisational, prioritization & time management, and negotiating skills and an excellent command of English language; and
  • Advanced Typing of at least 50 words per minute and 120 words per minute shorthand.

Job Titles: Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Technician

Location: Plateau

Job Purpose and Functions

  • The Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technicians shall be responsible to the Assistant Chief Engineer (Generation) or Assistant Chief Engineer (Services) through the Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineers in the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities.
  • They must have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in operational and electrical or mechanical practices including design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical or mechanical systems preferably in power generation and distribution systems set-up.
  • The candidates must be able in a multi-functional teams’ environment and effectively lead and manage teams of electricians, fitters, artisans, etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Electrical/Mechanical Technician shall be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

  • Supervising electrical/mechanical electricians, fitters, artisans;
  • Carrying out operations, routine checks, repairs, breakdown & preventive maintenance of power generation plant & its auxiliaries and distribution network equipment and systems;
  • Assist in planning, designing, and implementing cost-effective plant, equipment, and systems rehabilitation, modenisation and upgrade to improve safety, reliability, and effectiveness of power supply;
  • Carrying out operations and monitoring operating conditions (including recording parameters, operations events, and occurrences) of power plants and distribution network equipment and systems including switchgear etc to ensure efficient & effective performance;
  • Ensuring that electrical & mechanical systems, plant, equipment, installations, and operations meet and conform to industry standards, statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Trouble shooting, diagnosing, rectifying faults using fault-testing equipment, and repairing & replacing malfunctioning equipment, appliances, apparatus, systems, and defective components in various electrical/mechanical fixtures;
  • Recording all breakdown/corrective and preventive maintenance findings, feedbacks, and improvements;
  • Developing, designing, building/constructing/fabricating, and testing electrical and mechanical parts, devices & systems using hand and power tools and specifications;
  • Assist in preparation of electrical & mechanical systems specifications and drawings;
  • Initiating procurement of spare parts materials, supplies, equipment required for operations and maintenance works;
  • Assisting in carrying out administrative duties to enhance smooth relationship between the departments’ sections and also with other relevant Corporation’s departments;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and other engineering diagrams;
  • Training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of electrical/mechanical machinery and equipment;
  • Maintaining a tidy, safe, and healthy work environment and adhering to industry regulations;
  • Advising management on continued use of unsuitable equipment, appliances, and apparatus; and
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • The ideal candidates should have a minimum qualification of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a reputable and recognized Polytechnic, with at least three (3) years post qualifying hands-on working experience in the relevant field, preferably in a hydroelectric power generation and distribution industry.
  • The Applicants must also be registered members of engineering professional bodies including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) as Technologists.

Job Titles: Electrical & Mechanical Engineer

Location: Plateau

Job Purpose and Functions

  • The Electrical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible to the Assistant Chief Engineer (Generation) or Assistant Chief Engineer (Services) in the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities to efficiently and effectively perform generation or distribution functions in the Generation and Distribution Departments of [NESCO (Nigeria) Limited].

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

  • Supervising, directing, evaluating and coordinating staff of the various Sections in the Generation and Distribution Departments;
  • Preparation and co-ordination of maintenance programmes for electrical and mechanical power plant & supply facilities, associated civil works and ancillary plant/equipment
  • Carrying out efficient and effective operation, maintenance, modification, and rehabilitation of power plant & supply facilities/equipment, including scheduled maintenance and preventive repairs on all electrical/mechanical systems, equipment and machinery, in power generation and distribution infrastructure/facilities;
  • Designing, developing, manufacturing, installing and testing electrical/mechanical systems and equipment;
  • Analyzing problems or deficiencies and developing solutions to resolve them;
  • Inspecting completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards
  • Taking part in co-ordination and execution/implementation of new power plant and distribution network & systems projects;
  • Co-ordination of spare parts and materials requirements, ordering and stock-keeping them in order to effectively implement maintenance programmes and hence ensure high plant, systems, network and equipment availability;
  • Ensuring maintenance of high safety standards for personnel and plant & equipment to current Corporation’s Safety Rules and Factories Act;
  • Assisting in preparation, co-ordination, and control of capital and revenue budget requirements for power generation and distribution infrastructure/facilities;
  • Assisting in carrying out administrative duties to enhance smooth relationship between the departments’ sections and also with other relevant Corporation’s departments;
  • Assisting in preparation of staff training programmes and promotion of training opportunities; and
  • Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer (Generation) or Assistant Chief Engineer (Services).

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • The ideal candidates should have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Higher National Diploma with Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) plus Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Polytechnic and NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.
  • The Applicants must also be registered members of engineering professional bodies including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) as Engineers and must have at least three (3) years post qualifying hands-on working experience in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of major engineering works with a strong bias towards power supply facilities.
  • Applicants with past training in the electrical or mechanical field either through a work-based apprenticeship or vocational training in a school setting followed by hands on experience in the power supply industry will have a strong added advantage.
