Latest Opportunity: The Emma Press calls for submissions of poems on illness

Please check your E-mail inbox or spam to confirm.
Deadline: August 31, 2018.
Send your poems on illness to The Emma Press for publication in its anthology launching in April 2019. You may submit up to three poems. Amy Mackelden and Dylan Jaggard will edit the anthology. Amy Mackelden is a poet and writer who co-founded the poetry magazine Butcherโ€™s Dog and is the Weekend Editor at HarpersBAZAAR.com. Dylan Jaggard has been published by Oxford University Press and Camden Press, and his prose poetry has been published by National Flash Fiction Day.
The edirors seek poems that โ€œexpress the experience of illness right across the spectrum, and are keen to uncover invisible symptoms, as well as unravel the stigma of mental illness.โ€ So, submit poems that touch on symptoms, life-altering conditions (visible or invisible, chronic or curable), responses, among others.
To submit, compile a maximum of three poems, each no longer than 65 lines, into a single Word/PDF/ODF document. Only include text in the document and no images. And ensure your submission is anonymous. Do not put your name or any biographical notes in the document. Then, submit your poems via The Emma Press Google form. You will be asked to rename your document at a certain stage while filling the form. If you have any problems with the form, send an email on hello@theemmapress.com.
The Emma Press accepts previously published poems as long as you hold the rights and can license them for republication without any additional payments or paperwork. Also, it accepts translations. You can submit multiple proposals (one per author).
Please note: You must be a member of The Emma Press Club. Meaning, you must have bought a book the website this calendar year or already have been accepted into the club.
The press will offer published poets two complimentary copies of the book and a discount on future purchases of the book. Pamphlet authors will get royalties and complimentary copies too.
Founded in 2012 by Emma Wright, The Emma Press is an independent publisher dedicated to producing beautiful, thought-provoking books. It has been shortlisted twice and won the 2016 Michael Marks Award for Poetry Pamphlet Publishers.
