The Nigeria Immigration Service is in need of new personnel and has announced plans to recruit 5,000 personnel.
The Comptroller-General (CG), Isa Jere, spoke in an interview with journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa capital.
The CG noted that it is very important to meet the shortage of manpower in the security agency NIS.
Jere said the recruiting drill was concluded recently and new staff training was ongoing.

“The government has banned the recruitment of personnel. But this has been raised in security agencies as security is key.

“We have written a letter to the president. And I am very confident that we will be approved to recruit about 5,000 additional personnel,” NAN quoted him as saying.
He revealed that Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola had sent a memorandum upon request to President Muhammadu Buhari.

CG paid a visit to Jigawa to express condolences to the family of the officers killed by the robbery, including officers who were wounded in the ambush on August 9.
