Just on Tuesday, a claim by a social blog stated the following:

“N-Power: FG Set to Retain Batch C-1 N-Teach Beneficiaries

“The Federal Government of Nigeria Npower scheme are considering extending the services of the N-teach Batch C Stream 1 Beneficiaries.

“It would recalled that the names of the successful shortlisted candidates on Stream 1 were out for fingerprint and biometrics verification and expired on June 6, 2021. Before the start of the Npower batch C program, Npower management stated unequivocally that the Npower 2020 program would last only 12 months.

“The Npower batch C stream 1 Programme was launched in August 2021, and beneficiaries began working in September 2021. According to this, the batch C1 program is scheduled to end in September 2022.

“Meanwhile, according to a statement from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, the Federal Government are considering the extension of the N-Teach Batch C Stream 1 N-Power beneficiaries which was scheduled to end in September 30th, 2022.”

In the Npower Batch C1 Extension news, there were many things wrong as the writer only struck the desired of the Batch C stream 1 Npower beneficiaries but allowed them to wallow in their own delusionment.

Let’s start by reminding that Batch C Stream 1 Npower Programme officially commenced activities in September and Stipend Payment also started from September, 2021, hence, ends in August, 2022 by the 12 Months design.

According to the writer, “The Minister acknowledged that Nigeria had a deficit of teachers, which President Buhari’s administration had been addressing through the N-Power Teach Volunteers scheme under the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).

“She added: “We have created a dedicated platform under the National Social Investment Programme called N-Power Teach, which engages qualified graduates to man the gaps of basic education delivery in Nigeria.

“These N-Power Teach Volunteers are deployed as teacher assistants in primary schools across Nigeria to support existing teachers.

“The aim of this, and many other Government programmes, is to increase the teacher-student ratio at the primary school level thereby enhancing the quality of students moving to secondary schools…….”

The writer claimed that the above Statement was made by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Friday when she reviveed a leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT in Abuja.

The above statement credited to the Minister was copied from The Nigerian Tribune of 14th January, 2020 titled FG To Recruit More Qualified Teachers ― Buhari, https://tribuneonlineng.com/fg-to-recruit-more-qualified-teachers, written by Leon Usigbe.

The statement was made by President Muhammad Buhari and issued by Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Femi Adesina.

It is worrisome that many social media users find it uneasy to detect a fake news when they see one but quick to condemn a genuine information simply because it did not service their hope or interest.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development through the Minister’s SA on Media and Publicity, Nneka Ikem Anibueze, had on Saturday 13th August, 2022, stated that the Batch C Stream 1 Npower Programme ends in August, 2022.

“Batch C Npower  beneficiaries were divided into two streams, C1 and C2. Batch C1 was deployed in September 2021 and are due to exit the programme this August 2022 after spending 12 months in the programme.

“The payment system is transparent and verifiable using the FECs approved NASIMS platform where each beneficiary sees on the platform,  reasons for payment and  for non-payment  owing to truancy or transaction failure.

“The batch C2  pre-selected applicants have concluded their physical verification exercise using one of our strategic partners (NYSC).

“The deployment process commenced on the 1st of  August for 490,000 beneficiaries to fill the space of one million N-POWER beneficiaries as approved by Mr President,” stated Mrs Anibueze.

The Npower Management through it’s official Handles had insisted on the 31st August, 2022 exit date noting that, should there be any possibility for the Npower Batch C Stream 1 Extention, it would inform the General public.

As at the time of this publication, no official statement has been by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, through it Official and Department Handles, as regards the Extention of Batch C Stream 1 Npower Programme or absorption of any category in the programme.
