Opinion: Agriculture; From China to Nigeria

By Aduwo Ayodele

Solving poverty should be co-helped and agriculture should be seen as an essential ingredient capable of transforming and establishing a lasting democratic system in Nigeria. While it remains that shelter, clothing and food are all important demands to uphold living, it is undeniable that food is a major priority. In Nigeria, it is yet to be a conventional achievement beheading absolute poverty. The strength of this failure is connected to storm-tossing roles both the government and Nigerians have played. Roles of reformation insincerity and frivolity. One truth about Nigeria’s level of poverty is that it deteriorates. It is uprising. The poors are as extreme, unrejecting, politically polluted and common. And the country’s not enterprising repute of nations like Thailand, Laos, Mexico, India, Ivory coast and a phylum of other countries in terms of agricultural practice.

CHINA
China is the leading country producing Fish with an export rate of 9.2%($6.6 billion), providing one third of fish production in the world. Also soaring with the highest in rice production. China led ramie fiber cultivation, production and distribution in the year 2013. China plugged determination ahead of 2013 to secure a tent-like objective in producing ramie fiber to a peak. China makes hay leading India in the production of wheat, onion, cabbage, potato, pork and a long list of agricultural products. Heart-searching countries like Nigeria must understand that the flag-poling contribution of China is and to what rate is it credited to the extolled insight of the latter years before 1900. There was an evolving dug out of creativity in the field practice of agriculture, which proves how devoted citizens were.Alongside, possession of farmlands by the peasants and also the fitting of above 250 millions Chinese into producers of corporate economy in 1952 scaled the purveying efforts as influenced by China’s Government.

Contributing to China, land was a big spelt resource for China too. Its division of arable land could be divided among a 200 million family each possessing about 1.5acres. The availability of land enhanced China’s agriculture greatly.

Among favourable conditions that grew the past efforts of China when the country believed in it practically, the duty of successive governments in enhancing with lofty ideas cannot be disputed. The people serving their roles by preferencing Agriculture helped. The People and the Government of China had a lesson of motive and motion. The present China has been deflowered with the outburst of heavy industries. A lot of lands formerly used for farming has been situated now with permanent industries and the result brings China into a topmost of countries in importing. Agreed the times China was focused was better, the present has not failed largely. There are ongoing and popular innovations.

NIGERIA

Scraping poverty is not about making agriculture industrialization, it is all about making agriculture essential and itself also responsible to other webs of power”

“To become a superpower of Agriculture, Nigeria must be indisposed about her experiences and understand what Agriculture would serve the nation. No economy strategy stand without objectivities”.

Antipoverty and Antihunger programmes start from Government investing and settling disparity of the people’s civility. To the ultimate failure of people-servicing government, Nigerians sometimes become too sound to learn the real ways in solving the evident problem of poverty without respecting cultural initiatives – our likeness, past efforts in farming and livestock production, present level of farming practice, how mechanism works and by extension, the grade score for the so long talked.

By any yardstick, Nigeria is within the page of poverty-stricken countries. Obviously, the match sticks on the purchasing power of an average Nigerian, the corrupted terms of trade, the favour biased factor for production, the bit ton of support from the government in modifying cultivation of land and infrastructural inefficiency. “Until there is social control as against these Shortcomings, the bedrocks of Nigeria’s high incidence of poverty would remain prevailing”.

With the same eyelid;

Poverty in Nigeria should be seen from two perspective; the rural people’s poverty and the urban people’s poverty.Unfortunately all is a cycle of inability. The unavailability of the results of agriculture bring about the outcomes of what not being lazy can produce.”

Overtime the Urban people’s poverty is the most discussed. It is about a set of people unreached by the allocation of welfarism within the urban settlement. Rural people’s poverty engulfs the uneducated, the locked out who are unable to access a health care system, no power supply and the too derided. Of the two, inability to be well feed makes the two fall into each other.

It is that Nigeria’s commonest problem is the inability to be above poverty line.

China’s presently is overpowered by industrialization to what was, this has been driving away the indigenous practice of agriculture.It is not surprising to discover China with a seatbelt of agriculture and infrastructural growth has a number of poor citizens. China is densely populated. The similarities are in likeness with Nigeria. Often, loosing priority is an attacking factor. In Nigeria it is more grevious.

In Nigeria, politicians when vying labels what and how agriculture serves a becoming better economy. Like, Nigeria has faced downturn of promises. A lot of uncompromise, when at the curtain fall of an administration is when only the government consider farmer and farming. The perspective to agriculture should be improved. Nigeria has not been bad at exporting but at maximising crop production into tackling unemployment. With popularizing Indoor Farming Nigeria can as well serve as role model to Lesotho, Democratic Republic of Congo(Zaire) and other African’s countries as a true giant.
