Nigerian Govt unveils internship schemes for entrepreneurs

The Nigerian government has unveiled an internship scheme to train and empower entrepreneurs across the country’s university campuses.

Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Mr Charles Odii, disclosed this at the Baze University, Abuja.

Odii noted that the programme targets 10,000 internship placements in 2024.

He explained that the agency has secured the commitment of several prestigious firms to provide opportunities for students seeking practical knowledge and experience through the programme.

He said, “We want to spot and nurture the builders of Nigeria’s next unicorns, and this programme is a major step towards achieving that goal.

“It demonstrates the agency’s commitment to advancing the MSME sub-sector by investing in talent and innovation.

“Selected students will receive specialized training, experiential learning, networking opportunities, and mentorship.”
